Coffee, Ice Cream & Fall Treats in Breslau | The Nest Café

There is something about fall that makes a good café feel a little more important.

The mornings get cooler.

The days get shorter.

School is back, routines return, and suddenly sitting down with a hot coffee for twenty minutes feels less like a habit and more like a small reward.

At The Nest Café & Creamery in Breslau, Ontario, fall is one of our favourite times of year.

We sit right between Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and Guelph, which means we get a little bit of everybody through our doors.

People heading to work.

Parents after school drop-off.

Neighbours meeting for coffee.

Families stopping for ice cream.

People looking for somewhere local to sit, slow down and have an actual conversation.

And yes, people who simply need caffeine.

We understand those people particularly well.

A Local Coffee Shop in Breslau

When people search for a coffee shop near Kitchener-Waterloo or a café in Breslau, there are certainly plenty of choices.

We’re not interested in being the biggest one.

We’d rather be the place you remember.

Our espresso drinks are made with double shots because coffee should taste like coffee.

We serve lattes, cappuccinos, flat whites, cortados, mochas, Americanos — or, as we call ours, the Canadiano — along with drip coffee, hot chocolate and some creations that are uniquely The Nest.

We also don’t think choosing oat, soy, almond or lactose-free milk should turn your coffee into a luxury purchase.

The goal is pretty simple:

Make a really good cup of coffee and treat the person buying it well.

Yes, We Still Eat Ice Cream in the Fall

Apparently somewhere along the way, somebody decided ice cream was only a summer food.

We respectfully disagree.

Very strongly.

Fall might actually be one of the best times to visit an ice cream shop.

There are no melting cones running down your arm.

There is no race against a 30-degree afternoon.

And there is something wonderfully unnecessary about getting an ice cream cone when you’re wearing a sweater.

At The Nest, ice cream doesn’t disappear when summer ends.

Whether you’re looking for ice cream in Breslau, a dessert stop near Kitchener, or just an excuse to get out of the house with the kids, we’ll keep scooping.

Coffee, Baking and a Place to Stay Awhile

One of the things we wanted from The Nest was a place where nobody felt like they needed to rush out the door.

Grab a coffee before work.

Meet somebody here.

Bring your laptop.

Sit with a friend.

Bring the kids for a treat after school.

Have a coffee while they spend fifteen minutes making an absolutely impossible decision about ice cream flavours.

That’s fine too.

Along with coffee and ice cream, we bake right here at The Nest.

Brownies, cookies, bars, cakes and other baked treats give you plenty of reasons to ignore whatever responsible food decision you made earlier in the day.

We’re comfortable with our role in that.

Why Shop Local This Fall?

“Support local” gets said so often that sometimes we forget what it actually means.

When you spend money at a locally owned café, bakery, restaurant or shop in Waterloo Region, that money doesn’t disappear into some distant corporate system.

It helps pay a local employee.

It pays a local supplier.

It helps keep the lights on in a neighbourhood business.

It allows that business to sponsor something, donate something, hire somebody or help somebody else.

Small businesses depend on people making a very deliberate choice:

I could go anywhere, but I’m going here.

We never take that choice for granted.

If You Haven’t Visited The Nest Yet

We’re The Nest Café & Creamery at 2057 Victoria Street North in Breslau, Ontario, just outside Kitchener and minutes from much of Waterloo Region.

We’re a locally owned café serving espresso-based coffee, drip coffee, fresh baked treats and plenty of ice cream.

But we’re also trying to build something a little bigger than the things on our menu.

A place where people are comfortable.

A place where you’re remembered.

A place where local actually means something.

So if you’re searching for a coffee shop in Breslau, somewhere for coffee near Kitchener-Waterloo, a local café to meet a friend, or a place to take the kids for ice cream this fall, come give The Nest a try.

Stay for a coffee.

Have some ice cream.

Maybe take a brownie home.

We won’t judge.

Actually, we’ll probably encourage it.
